What are the definitions for Device Health Status?

The device health status displayed provides an insight into the health of your device(s) based on when the platform last received data from the device and the quality of the data event. The Device Health statuses are defined by:

  • Online – Total Online Devices. Number of devices that have communicated at least once in the last 6hrs e.g Last Ping < 6hrs
  • Review – Device Health – Review. Devices that have not communicated at least once with the server in the last 6hrs e.g. Last Ping >6hr <24hr
  • Investigate – Device Health – Investigate. Devices that have not communicated with the server in the last 24hrs e.g. Last Ping >24hr <48hr
  • Offline – Device Health – Review. Devices that have not communicated at least once with the server in the last 48hrs e.g. Last Ping >48hr
  • Not Monitored – Relates to Software mobile App trackers only
  • Not Deployed – Not Deployed. Devices that have never communicated with the server i.e. they have not been installed

All Device Health statuses except Online are displayed in the Asset Table on Fleetmap and in the Assets module. The health status is also displayed in the Device Health Report and Last Movement Report.

What does offline mean: GX6 Devices

A device is considered offline when it hasn’t communicated with the platform for over 48 hours.  This isn’t always a cause for concern, but here are the common reasons why it might happen:

1. Loss of Power

When a device loses its power source, it runs on its internal battery, which lasts about 24–48 hours.  Once depleted, the device will go offline.

  • This can happen due to:
    • Battery isolators being turned off—common in plant and equipment fleets.
    • Disconnection or improper connection of the power source.
    • A flat or removed battery.
  • When power is restored, the device should automatically come back online.

2. No Cellular Coverage

Like a mobile phone, the device relies on a 4G/5G network for communication. If there’s no coverage, the device may appear offline even if it has power.

  • However, it has an internal storage component that logs events while offline. Once it reconnects, it uploads the stored data to the platform.

3. Self-Isolation Mode

The device has a built-in feature that cuts off its connection if the asset’s battery voltage drops below:

  • 12.5V (for standard equipment)
  • 23.35V (for heavy equipment / 24V)
This prevents the asset’s battery from draining completely. Once the vehicle starts or moves, the device will automatically reconnect.

What to Do Next?

If none of the above conditions apply and the device remains offline, please reach out to our tech support team.  They have access to the necessary diagnostic tools to troubleshoot and resolve any issues effectively.
