Your NFC tags should arrive preconfigured by Rand Support and ready for installation.
If you’re using your own NFC tags, please refer to the setup guide for instructions on selecting and configuring compatible tags.
You will need
- Your NFC Tags
- A device signed into the Rand Platform with access to the Installer Portal
- A clean damp cloth
Step 1. Assigning Your NFC Tag Using The Installer Portal
Before installing the NFC tag, you’ll need to tell the Rand Platform which vehicle it belongs to. This is done through the Installer Portal, where you can look up the NFC tag and assign it to the correct vehicle in your fleet.

Once you’ve assigned your NFC tag, you can move to the next step
Step 2. Installing your NFC Tag in the Vehicle
To make sure your NFC tag works reliably, it’s important to install it correctly. Follow these steps:
Placement:
Stick the tag on the dashboard where the driver can easily reach it—usually near the steering wheel or center console.
Don’t place it directly on metal. If needed, use a foam spacer to separate the tag from the surface.
Make sure the tag is visible and not covered by any mounts or accessories.
Prepare the surface:
Clean the area with an alcohol wipe or damp cloth to remove dust, dirt, or oils.
Let the surface dry completely before applying the tag.
Test the location first by placing the tag without removing the backing to make sure it’s easy to reach.
Apply the tag:
Peel off the backing to expose the adhesive.
Press the tag firmly onto the surface and hold for 10–15 seconds.
Don’t try to reposition the tag after sticking it—it may lose adhesion.
